Wheelchair Accessible - Fiat Doblo

The Fiat Doblo may not be to everyone’s taste in term of the styling and exterior look but there is no arguing that its high roof and bluff lines give an enormous amount of space inside. The boot is a cavernous 750 litres and is therefore one of the many reason it is used as a disabled wheelchair accessible vehicle. Its inspiration no doubt is from other van-based cars like the Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo, but the Doblo is a spacious and versatile people carrier that (from 2004) is available with seven-seats and comes well equiped.

The Doblo is not as unwieldy as its bulky looks suggest and it can hold its own on demanding roads and also does not require alot of effort around town either. Its not the most fun to drive and steering is short on feel but this is not a real priority when looking for the ideal wheelchair access and the drive is generally comfortable. At the top of the range is the 2.0 diesel, which is flexible but not all that quick and there is a 1.6 which would not doubt be suitable..
